The one at six months

So, there are SO many things I'd like to blog about, but extra time is pretty rare over here at the Farr house. I'll try to get up a few. First of all, I've gotta tell ya about Dr. F before he gets any bigger.

Daws at 4 1/2 months

He turned six months old on Monday (how did that happen?!?). A couple things I want to remember about him at this age are:

1. He loves to give me kisses. Opened-mouthed-slobbery ones. Oh, it's so fun. He grabs my face with both hands and pulls himself to my lips and plants these long, wet kisses on me. Mmmm. Love it- germs, and spit up, and all.

2. When he cries he often says "Mama, Mmmommmmma!" I KNOW he doesn't really get that he's saying my name, but we can pretend right?? He can get me to drop anything when I hear that sweet little voice calling me.

See why I have no spare time? Ahh! Just look at that face!!!

3. He started sitting up on August 29th.

5 1/2 months

4. Drew loves being a big brother and I think he is pretty anxious for Dawson to be old enough to really play with him.... What do you think?

5. He will lay in this "flying" position and kick-kick-kick his legs super fast while jabbering on and on.

"bla ba babba blabba ba blaaaa"
6. He LOVES his dad. Here's some pics I took of him while Kev was playing the guitar. It's so sweet how he sits there totally glued & in awe.

7. Basically edible squishy legs & toes.

8. Big blues.

9. Happy boy.

10. A few other tricks include rolling around everywhere, eating Stage 2 foods, big belly laughs, and jumping around like crazy in the jumper. Tonight he started to get up on his knees (NOOO!) and scooting backwards (NOOOOOO!). Won't be long before he's into everything and my life will be officially over. For the next couple of years anyway.

I am so glad we have "Duffel Bag Cheeks" in our family. He is incredibly sweet & lights up even my very worst days. I one lucky mom.

The one with a double take

I picked up Halle from gymnastics yesterday and saw the following photo on the studio's wall. Talk about doing a double take!! How did the photographer miss that???

Hilarious.

I'm sorry, it's just too funny not to share.

The one with a sweet 7 year old

My Halle Girl woke up 7 years old this morning!!!

Halle walking to school with friends on her bday

This year for bdays we asked the kids if they would rather have the usual bday (party with friends, lots of presents) or one really BIG present for both of them. Like a playground.

There was no contest.

We did get her a few small gifts and Halle kinda ended up having a non-planned party. A bunch of the girls in the neighborhood came over for a late-night. We'd got her a zhu-zhu pet and it entertained 9 kids for a couple hours. CRAZY!!!

BTW - If you want to get some zhu-zhu's for basically nothing, go to Justice with a 40% off coupon with their 50% off sale. I got sets, pets & accessories for $2-$12 (Regularly $8-$48!!)
The sweetest part of the day was when I brought her home from school. I had taken balloons to her class earlier that day. As we drove into the garage Halle said she wanted to give one of the Balloons to Vyki. She ran in the house, got some scissors, cut off her favorite of the balloons, gave it a kiss, "sent it up to Vyki", and watched it fly higher and higher until it was gone.

I was so touched that she would do something so sweet and thoughtful all on her own.
Happy Birthday, Halle!
I love you!

The one with a beautiful wedding

Megan at Miss Utah 2007
My breath-taking cousin Megan got married.

It was SUCH a incredible reception at my aunt & uncle's home. It really felt like we were CELEBRATING. Isn't that how a wedding should be? Dancing, great food, laughing, a photo booth . . . even a full (illegal) fire work show!! Uncle Rob said, "Ah well, if I get arrested tonight, at least Megan will know how much I love her."

So great :)

But of all the amazing and beautiful decor there was that night, I think the MOST amazing and beautiful had to be . . .

the flower girls :)

The one with a question

Is DETERMINATED a word?

I have been wondering this for a couple years now. It's true.

I was at Scouts (did you know I used to be a Bear Leader?) and I gave an award to one of the boys -

"Most Determinated"

and presented it to him at the awards night. I guess the word I was meaning was "Determined."

Everyone laughed.

But isn't it a word? I swear it sounds like one. Has anyone else here been confused all these years?

No googling this either! :) The only allowable answers are from your already attained knowledge. Haha.

I'm a nerd.

The one around temple square

Our brother Freddie got to visit from Chicago for a few days. Although the trip was for sad reasons, we were SOOO excited to see him again. I was so happy that Kev and the kids were able to meet him and visa versa. He is such an incredible person. I hope it's not too long before we see him again.

While he was here Amanda, Ora & I took our girls & Freddie around Temple Square. We had so much fun. I only wish the day would have lasted longer.

A few highlights of the day:

1. Taking Freddie to Brigham Young's house and him taking pictures of everything for the mission president in Togo.
2. Listening to Freddie's stories and learning more about him.

3. How quickly he made friends with everyone. Like the lady in the Family History Library who went on her mission to Togo, the sister missionary who was from there and knew the same people (small world!) as Freddie, the boy from Germany and they chatted in German, the girl who spoke French so they chatted in French... so great!
4. Freddie parking my Pilot so effortlessly in that itty bitty parking space (in reverse) like it was no big deal. I guess for a cab driver in Chicago, no driving in SLC would be a big deal. lol.
5. Halle, Bailee & Kestle wanting to be next to him every second. (And btw, check out their outfits! We didn't plan that but they could not have been more perfectly coordinated. Great minds think alike)

6. Ora's French Book of Mormon.

7. Being able to remember Vyki together and knowing she really isn't so far away.
Love you Freddie!
Come again soon!!!

The one from Duffle Bag Cheeks himself

Hello everyone.

My name is Dawson, but I'm also called "Chubba Lub," "Fat Boy," and "Duffle Bag Cheeks".

I turned four months old today. Mom can't believe there ever was a day she worried about my weight. I've well more than doubled my size in the last few weeks. My cheeks are pinchable, my tummy is rolly, and these thighs are solid but squishy. Everyone keeps squeezing them. Watch out though, I am one tough dude.

I started eating Rice Cereal this week. Oh boy, is that stuff great or what!!! Sometimes I get a little too excited when eating and accidentally, ferociously attack the spoon. I just can't.. quite.. help.. myself...

It's a serious business, this eating-thing. This is how I felt when my first bowl of cereal was all gone:

Some of my other favorite things these days are:

Rocking in my swing,
Laughing at my big brother,

Grabbing and slobbering on my toys,
Being taken care of by my big sister,
Jabbering at Dad,
and peeing on Mom.

I still sleep 10+ hours every night. You can call me super baby.

I do NOT like camping. My safe, warm house is much nicer than a cold, windy mountain. (What were they thinking?)

I must be a big star at my house. My family is crazy about me, and love on me constantly. Must be because I am one happy, sweet, snuggable, loveable guy.

Peace out-

DRF
